| In my early years of operating, CW was the ONLY mode available to me as a Novice Class License. I discovered that CW would often times get through to distant stations much easier than AM phone at the same power level. Since I was licensed to operate at a power level of 75 watts (input to the final stage) on CW only, I really didn't have a choice of operating modes. I soon became very comfortable at communicating in the CW mode and found that after upgrading to General Class, and experimenting with phone operation I preferred CW. Well it's now 52 years later and I still prefer CW as my favorite mode of operating. |
